Quote of the day: Ruggedman to 9ice

You tried to tarnish my image and that of your wife because you wanted to sell CDs, God bless you. You can tease me all you want, but it would never change the fact that the first big stage you got on was through me. The first award you won was through me. You started making money after I introduced you to the world. The wife you married, I introduced to you. The first child you got was from the woman I introduced to you. I helped you come up in the industry…Never pay back good with evil. Be respectful to your elders.” Ruggedman to 9ice from his new track - A word is enough for the 9ice.

Method Man pleads guilty to tax evasion

Former Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man pleaded guilty to evading state taxes over a four-year period, costing the music star more than $100,000 in fines and fees.

The rapper, 39, whose real name is Clifford Smith, was arrested in October 2009 for owing nearly $33,000 to the New York state government from 2004 through 2007.

His attorney, Peter M. Frankel, said the mistake was caused by a previous accountant, who has since been replaced. "He had business people who were supposed to file, but didn't," Frankel said. "As soon as he found about it, he took responsibility." Method Man ended up paying a total of $106,000 in back taxes, penalties, fines and interest.

"Failure to pay your taxes is not a victimless crime," said Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Donovan. "In these days of massive budget shortfalls and service cuts, tax evasion is a crime against all New Yorkers. Whether you are a celebrity or an ‘Average Joe,' you will be investigated, arrested and prosecuted.

In 1995, Smith won a Grammy for his collaboration with fellow hip-hop artist Mary J. Blige on "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By," a remake of a Marvin Gaye hit.

Since parting with Wu-Tang , Smith has appeared in numerous television shows and most recently has been promoting Def Jam Rap Star, a rap-themed video game.

Megan Fox marries in Hawaii

Her career may have hit a rocky patch, but Megan Fox's personal life seems happier than ever.

The "Transformers" actress married her long-time boyfriend, former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Brian Austin Green, in Hawaii late last week, TMZ.com reported on Monday.

The pair tied the knot during a small ceremony at the Four Seasons Resort on the state's Big Island.

Staff at the hotel were not able to confirm the report, and Fox's publicist did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

Fox, 24, and Green, 36, reportedly got engaged for a second time at the same hotel earlier this month.

They met in 2004, first got engaged in 2006, but called it off in early 2009.

It was the first marriage for both, although Green has an 8-year-old son with actress Vanessa Marcil.

Fox is currently in theaters with the comic-book adaptation "Jonah Hex," which is shaping up to be one of the biggest bombs of the year. Last month, she was suddenly dropped from the cast of "Transformers 3" just as production was about to begin. She last year likened franchise director Michael Bay to Hitler and Napoleon, and said he was "a nightmare to work for." Her high-profile headlining role in the 2009 horror comedy "Jennifer's Body" also fizzled.

Green, meanwhile, has worked steadily in a series of low-profile film and TV projects since the popular teen soap "Beverly Hills, 90210" ended its decade long run in 2000.

Sandra Bullock, Jesse James finalise divorce

Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock and her estranged husband Jesse James have filed divorce papers in Texas, ending their nearly five-year marriage after he admitted to infidelity, according to reports on Monday.

People magazine said the divorce papers were filed under seal last week, and that a representative for Bullock confirmed the divorce is final.

Bullock seemed to be on top of the world several months ago when she won the best actress Oscar for playing a tough-talking Texan socialite in the football film "The Blind Side." But only days later her marriage to James was rocked by reports of his cheating.

The two quickly separated and Bullock later revealed that she had adopted a baby boy, for whom she is now caring.

In April, the actress gave her first interview to celebrity magazine People and said she would be filing for a divorce. James, a motorcycle maker and reality TV star, had been publicly linked to at least four other women.

Sneak a Peek at Ashley Greene's Sexy Cleavag

Move over, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, you're not the only Twilight stars showing off your sexy assets.

Alice Cullen alter ego Ashley Greene graces the January cover of Cosmo, and she's baring some vampire cleavage in a white button-up shirt that's not buttoned at all and teeny denim shorts.

It's a classic hot-girl getup (think Cindy Crawford Pepsi commercial) that gorgeous Ash is seriously working.

Did America's Most Wanted Really Crack Hollywood Publicist Murder Case?

John Walsh, who's been catching bad guys for years as host of the long-running Fox series, says it was a tip from his show that led Beverly Hills cops straight to the suspected triggerman who slayed Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen.

A segment on Chasen's murder aired on Nov. 20, four days after she was shot to death while driving home from the Burlesque premiere. Walsh says the show's hotline started ringing soon after.

"I believe they respoded to a tip we had passed on. BHPD reached out to us. We have been working closely with Bevery Hills police," Walsh tells the Los Angeles Times.

The suspect, an ex con named Harold Johnson, had a history of drug and gun arrests and bragged that he had been hired to murder Chasen. He shot and killed himself in front of police late Wednesday.

But there's still no official word from detectives on how Johnson is linked to the 64-year-old publicist.

Authorities insist the investigation is still open, though Chasen's friends have floated theories ranging from a "crime of passion" to unpaid gambling debts to a business deal gone bad.

Meanwhile, the publicist's last known will has been made public. She was worth an estimated $6 million and was very generous to her heirs, with the exception of one neice who got only 10 bucks.

However, Chasen's brother, the coexecutor of her estate, believes a more recent will was drafted but he has yet to find it.

Nicole Richie Talks Taking On the Paparazzi: "We All Have to Be Safe"

"I don't want to prevent anyone from making a living, but at the end of the day, we all have to follow certain guidelines and we all have to answer to somebody," she told Ellen DeGeneres, explaining her recent move to secure a restraining order against a paparazzo who she claimed was targeting her family.

"At the end of the day, as a mother, I have to protect my children. It's instinctual, right or wrong, you have to protect your children."

And so she fought for her privacy and, in her eyes, she won.

PHOTOS: Famous Families

"Yes," Richie replied when Ellen inquired whether she had won her battle against the photographer.

The claws came out after the mother of two spotted paparazzi outside daughter Harlow's school when she went to pick her up. She blasted photo agency X17online on her blog, calling its methods "creepy and disgusting."

She then went after photographer Fabricio Luis Mariotto in court, calling him "predatory" and accusing him of driving erratically around her family and trespassing on school property.

"When I realized it was a school, I left," Mariotto told reporters following a hearing on Richie's complaint.
They ultimately settled their differences outside of court, but Richie did indeed draw attention to her crusade.

"Like I said, there are certain guidelines for everyone," she told Ellen. "For you, for me, for everyone. And it has to be the same for everyone. We all have to be safe."

Score one for celebrity moms everywhere. But we doubt her distaste is going to dissuade any shutterbugs from snapping away when she finally ties the knot with Joel Madden.

President’s Son "Rapes" Jackie Appiah

<
Jackie Appiah - rape victim in "The Supremo"

The next time you see popular actress Jackie Appiah on television or about town in her customized Nissan Murano car, watch her with a piteous heart. Jackie who has just been crowned the "Best Actress in Africa" has been sexually assaulted by the president’s son.

The gentleman who is the only son of the president "raped" Jackie ruthlessly, in a night club. His father is using his influence to sweep such a sensitive issue under the carpet like it never happened and thus deny her justice. But she has vowed to seek for justice until her last breath.

Jackie Appiah played this role very well with actor Prince Dave Osei (Ferdinand) who played the president’s son in a new movie titled “The Supremo”. The yet to be released movie, produced by Peace Films is action packed, mixed with love and politics.

It tells the story of a fresh graduate, Cindy (Jackie Appiah), who was caught in a love tangle between ‘Charles Asante’ (John Dumelo) the love of her life and ‘Ferdinand’ (Prince David Osei) who wants her at all cost simply because he is the son of the President (played by popular sound engineer Zapp Mallet).

In an attempt to win the heart of Jackie, who was deeply in love with John Dumelo, Prince Dave did everything possible with his money and influence including killing, but all failed. He decided to take what he wanted by fair or foul means, so he ended up raping Jackie in a night club assisted by his bodyguards who hijacked the club and sent everybody out.

This resulted in a national legal battle between the presidency and Jackie. Any lawyer who comes to defend Jackie is murdered, but now the last legal brain standing, Lawyer Stella (Roselyn Ngiza) is ready to die to defend Jackie in court.

What happened to lover boy, John Dumelo? Can the lawyer help him imprison the President’s son? How and where will “The Supremo” end up?

The movie is a mouthful of suspense, intrigue and romance. It has audible and straight forward dialogue. “The Supremo” also stars Kalsum Sinare, Juliet Ibrahim, George Williams, Emmanuel Armah, Jane Buckman Owoo, Eunice Banini, Soraya, Gifty Temang and introducing ‘Too Sweet’.

It is the first English movie produced by the Akan film production house, ‘Peace Films’, producers of Agya Koo 419, Galamsey, Ghana Girls, Abodam and other great movies.

The Supremo premiers at the Silver Bird Cinema this Friday April 23, 2010 at exactly 6:30pm and on subsequent days. All stars in the movie will be there for pictures and autographs.

The movie, directed by Ghanaian director Asare Bediako, also has a full Ghanaian crew and cast. It can be compared to most of the Ghanaian movies directed by Nigerians.

‘The Supremo’ is a must-watch movie!!!!!!!

Lindsay Lohan Will Play 'Deep Throat' Porn Star

say Lohan is set to play Linda Lovelace, the porn star featured in 1972's infamous 'Deep Throat.' Although the news feels like just another talking point tossed on the gossip pile, LiLo's chum/photographer Tyler Shields is presenting the casting news as hard fact -- no matter how snugly it seems to fit into the never-ending LiLo narrative.

"Shields confirmed to us this weekend that the actress has indeed landed the gig," E! Online reports.

The film is an independent venture titled 'Inferno,' rumored (again, those dang rumors...) to be officially announced at Cannes Film Festival later this month.
Our gut reaction to the role -- particularly after LiLo's gun-in-mouth, blood-splattered photo shoot with Shields just last week -- is that it has a certain scent of shock value. But in a recent (and oh-so-perfectly-timed) Pop-ed, one of our suggestions for Lohan to regain her career mojo was this: Shrug your shoulders and say, "Whaddya gonna do?" And isn't that exactly what this role does for LiLo? She's doing precisely what the tabloids expect her to do, and in the process, getting back on the silver screen and possibly flipping the gossipmongers on their heads.

Consider: Linda Lovelace "later denounced her pornography career, claimed that she had been forced into it by her sadistic first husband, and for a while became a spokeswoman for the anti-pornography movement" (thanks, Wiki). Sounds like this seemingly unsurprising role could wind up being something resonant and poignant for Lohan -- a metaphor in art a la Mickey Rourke's hard times and comeback being mirrored in 'The Wrestler.'

New Book to (Maybe?) Spill Hot Brangelina Sex Tales

Let's get this straight. There's a new tell-all Brangelina book that basically has all the details we've ever wanted to know? The couple's sex life, how Angie stole Brad away from Jen, who she was sleeping with before said man-theft -- did we mention sex? Lots and lots of sex.

That's the story Jenny Paul is selling with 'Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: The True Story,' anyway. "Hollywood will be rocked by these revelations about Brad and Angelina," Paul tells Life & Style magazine.

Call us skeptics. After the jump, we look at some of the book's super scandalous "revelations," including the massive rock star Angie supposedly shacked up with.
Life & Style reports the book will reveal Angelina was sleeping with both Ralph Fiennes and ex-husband Jonny Lee Miller at the beginning of her involvement with Brad in 2004. Jolie's relationship with Fiennes was apparently a saucy one -- the pair supposedly engaged in regular S&M sessions at a London hotel, after which they would older room service and watch the news. Um...

Immediately before her involvement with Pitt began, the actress had also reportedly just broken up with Colin Farrell after a four month relationship because he became obsessed with her, drank too much and wasn't a good role model for Maddox.

Busy lady!

Perhaps the most shocking bit of dirty laundry the book airs is that Angie slept with Mick Jagger while he was married to Jerry Hall. She met the rock star when she starred in the 1997 Rolling Stones video for 'Anybody Seen My Baby.' In 1997, Angelina Jolie was 22 years old. Mick Jagger was 54. Yikes.

It all seems a tad too sensational to be true, no? The author tells Life & Style she's researched for six years and spoke to those closest to the couple, i.e. "Angelina's late mother's former boyfriend Bill Day and Angelina's old confidant, rock singer Texas Terri." Huh?

On that note, Amazon.com turns up nothing on Jenny Paul or the book.

The biggest reveal we've learned thus far is that Brad and Angelina have a master plan to increase their brood to a whopping 13 children. "Some will be adopted, some will be biological," Paul says.

Stars of this caliber would have to grant months of unfettered access for such a tell-all to be empirically valid. Until Jenny Paul flashes more cred, we're gonna go ahead and remain skeptical.

Sandra's Baby vs. Angie's Twins: Who Sold More?

Sandra Bullock's PEOPLE cover took everyone by surprise, and had the entire entertainment world talking last week. But it's all about the money, so the real question is: Did her cover beat Angelina Jolie's big twin reveal from 2008, which is the magazine's highest-selling baby cover of all time? Did her nobody-saw-it-coming reveal of her adopted son -- plus the first confirmation of her divorce -- best Brad and Angie? It was an incredibly tight race, and the results are after the jump!
Did Sandra Trump Angie in PEOPLE Race?

It's no surprise that PEOPLE magazine's shocking Sandra Bullock baby cover was a huge seller, but it hasn't yet replaced the biggest-selling baby exclusive ever. That would be PEOPLE's 2008 exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne.

"Sandra's cover has been on newsstands for a week and it has already sold over 2.7 million copies," a magazine insider told me, citing early sales estimates for the issue. "That's only 100,000 less than the 2.8 million copies the magazine sold when Angelina's twins graced the cover -- and a half-million more copies than the June 2006 issue with exclusive baby pictures of Brad and Angelina's first daughter, Shiloh, which moved 2.2 million newsstand copies."

So although it looks as if Sandra's baby will ultimately outsell Angie's twins, she still has a long way to go be beat the top two seller's in the magazine's 35-year history: the Sept. 11 issue (4.1 million copies) and the issue covering Princess Diana's death (3 million).

Kim Kardashian Thinks the White House Is Small

The day after the White House Correspondents Dinner, Kim Kardashian and teen pop sensation Justin Bieber got a private tour of the White House. Yes, they still had to go through metal detectors and security check points like every other person who does the tour. However, one perk of being famous is that they got to see rooms that those on the regular tour don't get to see.

"The West Wing is not part of the regular tour, but they do let celebrities see it," an insider tells me. "Kim was amazed at how much everything looked like the TV show 'The West Wing,'" laughed one friend. "But she was surprised at how small it was, saying her house was bigger." Oh, Kim, what I would pay for a VIP tour of your mind.

Fun fact: The White House is the smallest residence of any leader's abode in the Western World. Who knew?!

'Housewives of New Jersey' Represent Themselves, Not the Garden State

While taping a segment for my favorite news magazine show, 'The Insider,' I bumped into three of the 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' (doesn't 'The Insider' always have the best guests?), who said they represent themselves -- and not the entire state of New Jersey. Pay attention, The Situation!

I must admit, unlike some of the other housewives I know, Teresa, Caroline and Jacqueline are the real deal, not pretending to be someone else when the cameras roll. Although Teresa did admit that was the first time she had ever flipped a table.

Usher Happy His Mum Is No Longer His Manager

Usher is relieved his mum is no longer managing his career - because he needs her to provide moral "support" in his personal life.

The R&B singer ended his 15-year professional relationship with mum Jonnetta Patton in 2008 before reinstating her following lacklustre sales ofhis 2008 album Here I Stand.

The pair decided to cut ties once again in March last year (09) and Usher is convinced the mutual decision was for the best - because they now enjoy a healthy mother-and-son relationship.

And the Yeah! hitmaker admits he now relies on his mum in his personal life, following his divorce from wife Tameka Foster in November (09).

He says, "It was an agreement between the two of us (to part ways) but that message has been misconstrued because we just never chose to have a conversation in public about our relationship.

And the Yeah! hitmaker admits he now relies on his mum in his personal life, following his divorce from wife Tameka Foster in November (09)

I can have many managers, but I can only have one mother. And having been introduced to these new stages of my life where I do need that support, that's where I need her".

Former child star Todd Bridges broke down as he read an extract from his memoirs on U.S. TV show "" on Wednesday, April 28 - because his own words brought back terrible memories of a childhood molestation. Host asked the ex-"Diff'rent Strokes" star to read from his book, "Killing Willis", after he revealed how the sex acts had begun when he was just 11.

The actor explained that a trusted male mentor and publicist had treated him to gifts and urged him to ignore the adulation of screaming girl fans before sexually abusing him. Bridges started reading and lost his composure as he fought back tears. He continued, "He pulled my pants down. He put his mouth on me and I got hard. I didn't know where to look or how to feel. I squirmed against the back of the seat... I hoped it would be over fast. That's what happened; I came."

He added, "As I confessed and I was upset about it, I liked the way that it felt. I didn't think about whether or not it was wrong." The actor held his head in his hand and started crying as he put the book down and told Winfrey, "I'm past it but it still hurts because it ruined my life. I spent the rest of my time trying to cover up how I felt about it, that pain."

Bridges composed himself after a commercial break and revealed his molester, a man named Ronald, tried to take the place of his father - and he had confusing moments where he just attacked the man who stole his innocence. The actor's mother, who was in the studio audience, revealed her son's strange behavior struck a chord with her - because she had been molested as a child, also.

Bridges explained, "My mother took me off of him. I think she knew right away what had happened." His mum then chased Ronald out of the house with a knife and called her son's father, who refused to believe Bridges had been molested.

The actor recalled, "That really destroyed me because my father was supposed to be my protector. He didn't protect me." At that point, Bridges broke down again and sobbed, "He allowed this man to do this to me and didn't help me. I have kids today (and) if my kids told me that, I'm going to jail; that guy's dead. There's no way he's gonna live."

Todd Bridges also talked about his relationship with , saying he resisted a romance with her - because he refused to treat her like the other girls he used and abused. He bedded girls like co-star Dana Plato and fans - but there was something about Jackson, who played his girlfriend on the beloved sitcom, that made him turn down her bids for a real-life romance.

"I backed away from her because she was such a nice person and so good to me that I just couldn't see myself hurting her like that... (but) we went out for a little while," he said.

Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett isn't letting mommyhood get in the way of having some bootylicious fun.

The E! reality star jumped on stage at KDAY radio's Krush Groove concert on Friday night in L.A. to do some rather rigorous booty shaking while her rapper pal Too $hort performed his hit, "Blow the Whistle."

But you're not going to believe who's taking Kendra to task for the impromptu performance—former porn star Jenna Jameson!

"I think it's weird when new moms act exactly the way they did when they didn't have babies," Jameson tweeted.

Another tweet read, "You don't see me acting out like a heathen."

Um, okay, Ms. Jameson.

Seriously, folks, Jameson needs to loosen up. Was the booty bonanza really all that bad? We'll let you be the judge. Check out the video after the jump...

‘Death’s’ humor takes a holiday

Chris Rock seems miscast and director Neil LaBute never finds the proper tone in the multicultural comedy

by success
Director Neil LaBute's new comedy, "Death at a Funeral," which stars a posse of comics headed by Chris Rock, is the movie version of karaoke. It sings the same tune as the 2007 British underground hit, but it's a little, and at times a lot, off-key.

Anyone who saw the original Frank Oz comedy of manners, with its Pandora's box of problems sharing coffin space with the deceased patriarch of a dysfunctional English family, should hold on to whatever fond memories they might have. For the rest, this new "Death" has its moments, but on the whole the production is, as "American Idol's" Randy Jackson might say, very pitchy and a couple of beats behind.

The problems start with Rock, who also serves as a producer on the film, which I guess gave him dibs on whatever role he wanted; he took the straight guy. Why? As Aaron, he's the serious older brother to whom all the funeral planning falls, including a eulogy that promises to be deadly (the stack of note cards and the stilted speech he keeps rehearsing is the clue). But Rock wears boring like an ill-fitting suit.

Other than asking one of the funniest comics around to play the nebbishy central character, the film hews so closely to the original that it can feel like an echo chamber with words, scenes, plot twists, even the graphic style of the opening credits borrowed. The script, for which original writer Dean Craig again gets credit, replaces British slang with American but keeps the same cast of characters, and in the case of Peter Dinklage, the uninvited guest who stirs the pot and thickens the plot, the same actor as well.

For the uninitiated, "Death" is very much an ensemble farce swirling around the death of the father — in this case an affluent African American family long settled in an upscale South Pasadena neighborhood. Although Aaron and his wife have been living at home with the parents, Ryan ( Martin Lawrence) is the favorite son who left years ago for New York, where he's a successful novelist and the source of much unresolved sibling rivalry. The assorted extended family is a multicultural cast consisting of doctors, investment brokers and other professional types, each with a set of issues they're working through.

Those intersecting issues get passed around like a hot potato, which makes for a fast-moving film, with broad slapstick carrying the comedy, including the conservative boyfriend who is on a bad acid trip to an unfortunate encounter with poop. The stick that gets slapped around the most is Dinklage, as someone small enough to be stuffed into tight spots when the spot he thrusts the family into turns out to be tight indeed.

LaBute has done better mining the fun out of some of the setups than others, with James Marsden engaging as the accidentally drugged boyfriend who's now gone commando and Tracy Morgan a good fit as the fat friend saddled with wheelchair-bound old Uncle Russell ( Danny Glover) and all the bodily issues and anger that accompany his advancing age.

In fact, most of the ancillary bits swirling around the brothers hold up to the translation pretty well. But when the center is weak, the cake falls, and that's what happens here.

Rock and Lawrence just never gel as dueling brothers. In the film, Aaron is conflicted about his future, but Rock is even more conflicted about his comedy. He swings between the searing situational outrage, which grounds the very best of his observational stand-up and the strait-laced, tradition-bound son and henpecked husband he is supposed to be. Meanwhile, Lawrence acts more like a party guest floating through than a member of the family, a loose end the filmmaker can't quite tie up.

It's almost as if LaBute, whose work usually comes with a serious mean streak, whether drama ("In the Company of Men") or comedy ("Nurse Betty"), wasn't quite sure how to play nice. Though he knows how to put on a funeral so that it's a polished and proficient affair, he never completely embraces "Death" and makes it his own.

And that folks is what we call "a tease."

Jennifer Aniston bared more than her soul for this month's issue of GQ.

Aniston, the ever gorgeous nearly-40-year-old is almost nude on the cover -- and inside -- except for that pesky neck tie. Looking better than many 20-year-old starlets, Jen chats with the magazine about her new love, her old love, and all the rumors.

Calling the relationship between her, ex-husband Brad Pitt and admitted former mistress and now mother hen to his six children Angelina Jolie, she jokes, "The funny thing is that people don't realize we all go away to the Hamptons on the weekends. No. Can you imagine? That'd be hysterical: I've got Zahara on my hip, and Knox..."

What does Jen think now that both Angelina and Brad have come clean about their relationship starting while Brad was still married -- something both denied for several years?

"Well, you know, that was definitely a confirmation for me of something that wasn't quite confirmed at the time. But listen... You sit there and you... No. No daggers through the heart. I laugh. Am I surprised? Well, how do I say this?... Considering the source, nothing surprises me."

Zing!

She does say that while she and Angelina have absolutely no contact, Jen and Brad still keep in touch occasionally. "When there's something to congratulate or celebrate, there's an exchange," she said. "But there's no charge on it."

And how about that John Mayer character? "Honestly, did not know much about him before I met him. I'd heard... you know, uh 'Your Body' -- that song. But what I can say is that I had no idea what an extraordinary musician he is. And it's just great to sit and be witness to that. It's kind of like, Whoa!"

But no -- she is not having his baby, and the couple so far has no plans to wed.

Lauren Conrad Wanted for a Hills Return—in France!

The Hills, Lauren Conrad MTV

We doubt Lauren Conrad has plans to return to The Hills, even for the series finale. But maybe a former boss will convince the 24-year-old otherwise.

"The show gave her a great run," Teen Vogue editor Lisa Love told us last night at Diego Della Valle's MOCA fundraiser at Tod's in Beverly Hills. "She should definitely come back for the finale."

Hills creator Adam DiVello told EW.com that his dream is to have Miss Conrad walk down the aisle in the last episode, but Love has other things on her wish list for L.C.'s hoped for return...

"It'd be fun if Lauren and I caught up in Paris," Love suggested. "I think they could find a way to make it work with her coming back."

Unlike former Hillster Whitney Port, Love hasn't quite been following the antics of Audrina Patridge and Lo Bosworth since Conrad's farewell.

"It was over many years ago for me, and I haven't watched it since," Love said. "I never watched it even when I was on. You don't want to watch yourself on TV. I only follow what's going on with the cast when I'm at the airport

Review: Date Night Not Worth Paying a Sitter For

Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Mark Wahlberg, Date Night

Review in a Hurry: We all love Tina Fey and Steve Carell, don't we? So why doesn't Hollywood love them, too? At least enough to give them a script worthy of their talents? This halfassed (but star-studded) farce from hacktacular director Shawn Levy, in which the comics play harried marrieds on a mistaken-identity run from the mob, is marginally better than the likes of Evan Almighty and Get Smart. But not by much.

The Bigger Picture: It's commonplace nowadays to dis director Chris Columbus (Home Alone) for being a generic sentimentalist, but let it be said that he set the template for what Date Night is trying to do in his directorial debut, Adventures in Babysitting. Substantially mocked in its day, that movie has since become a classic for kids who grew up with it, and its escalating nuttiness as it strands a babysitter and kids in a bad part of town strikes the perfect balance between humor and real-life tension.

The babysitter and kids stay safe at home in Date Night. This time, it's the parents whose night on the town begins with a case of mistaken identity, and spirals further into a conspiracy ploy involving a mobster (Ray Liotta), the District Attorney (William Fichtner), some corrupt cops (Common and Jimmi Simpson), a lowlife junkie couple (James Franco and Mila Kunis), and an elite, ex-military something-or-other (Mark Wahlberg, flaunting his funky bunch of abs like it was 1989).

Kristen Wiig, Mark Ruffalo, and Taraji P. Henson also figure into the cast; it's as if everyone involved called in favors from all their celebrity friends.

Let it be noted that there are some laughs in Date Night, many involving Carell yelling amusingly inept threats. Director Levy and screenwriter Josh Klausner (one of many Shrek sequel scribes) could have left well enough alone and gotten some credit, but the forced, unfunny "gag reel" over the end credits strongly implies that Fey and Carell were allowed to improvise, and that Levy ultimately used the only takes that weren't egregiously directionless and overdone.

The pacing and setups are way off. Each sequence ought to make our main characters progressively more hysterical, but not only do they not, they also suddenly have the characters doing drastically out-of-character things, like a particularly dangerous stunt on a moving car that Carell's character would seem in no way prepared to do.

Then there are some awfully strained "wacky" setups: Oh, look! A strip club! Cue bad attempts at pole dancing! Worse are the attempts to actually make a profound statement about love and marriage. As if.

That the leads manage to get off some good lines in spite of all this nonsense is a testament to them, but it only makes an audience member long for a movie that uses them—and the many supporting celebrity faces—correctly.
